I am selling a lot of Davis & Geck Surgaloy Surgery Stainless Steel Suture Wire On Wooden Spools and cardboard. One spool is a modern day plastic spool of beading wire. There is also one set of rounded wire that is not wrapped around anything, so do not know the age. Tape is holding that round or wire together I bought this lot in a estate sale. The husband and wife died. The husband was into beading and vintage medical items. There are 10 wooden spools all together. All very old and with different makers. Haslam, Skylar, Ethico. Some I can not make out who the makers are. Each spool has various size wire with different length left of wire on each spool. Some wire has been mildly tangled. But not severely tangled. Each spool is made in the USA. There are 31 square cardboard spools of wire. All are the same size size 0000 No. 70 and are Surgaloy brand, by Davis & Geck, made in Brooklyn New York. There are four open boxes that the cardboard wire come in. This lot comes with 8 wooden various size dowel rods. I assume they are to wrap the wire around. The wire was used in its time for stomach wound surgery. In today times it makes makes great beading necklace wire. This whole lot comes in a DePuy hip replacement box. The box has the serial number of the hip replacement on it still. The seal of the box is broken due to the hip being put into a person. The box does have black wire dust in it, due to the wire being used for jewelry making. The box is NOT in perfect condition, but does hold together and seems to be sturdy enough. For being in the operating room and then having a lot of wire in it, the box isn’t in all that bad of condition. Hopefully I didn’t leave anything out in the description.
