Antique Rare Medical 1800s Doctors Rectal Speculum Instrument Signed Aloe

Description

Offered is a rare antique medical surgeons rectal speculum instrrument dates 1870s and is signed.  The maker A.S. ALOE.  Instrument has a old checker cut gutta percha handle with silver finished brass cylinder surmounted by gutta percha tip. Removeable handle. The top inside end of the speculum chamber consists of a tapered mirror placed at an angle of 135 degrees, serves as a reflecting surface and prevents the mucous membrane from becoming engaged in teh border of the fenstra when the instrument is withdrawn. Wonderful old color and patina to the gutta percha and silver finish.  Shows age and history.  Excellent condition, no cracks or chips in gutta percha.  Little wear to silver finish.  6 1/8" long x 4".  Please e-mail with questions.  Thanks
