ANTIQUE MEDICAL SURGICAL TOOLS BOX HERNSTEIN SCALPEL CIVIL WAR TREPHINE

Description

We received some antique medical instruments from an old estate and are listing the 3 boxes we found as three individual auctions. This is for the third box.
There is one key that fits 2 boxes and the latch on this box doesn't work. The key is included in the second box's auction.
We do not know much about these instruments and will describe them to the best of our ability.
This box measures approximately 15 1/4" long, 4 1/2" deep and 2 3/4" tall. There are a total of 13 items. The hammer is marked Goldman & Shurtleff, a scalpel has RG on it, another is marked Hernstein, the long clamp thing that looks like a hair curling iron is marked with what we believe NOU-PAINS (?), the long knives are marked JJ STUFEL (3).The other items aren't marked that we can see. The red and white cloth banding on the brass tourniquet is tired but holding together. The longest knife is approximately 14", the next is approximately 12" and the saw is approximately 13". The other tools range from about 4" to 9".
There is some slight discoloration on the tools and a some rust on the saw and knife. These have not been cleaned at all.
The box is in good condirion, however the brass inlay is pulling up on one end and the latch/key doesn't work (it is missing the top part). It does not smell overly musky.
